Be in a hammock or tent in a serious lightening wind and rain storm. No long out theory just answer tent or hammock. I know this has been addressed before but bear with me with the simple answer. Thanks!

hammock - if I'm going to die I'd rather die happy
If it's true that lightening comes up from the ground then I choose hammock because it'll take longer to reach me.

So many trees, so little time...
Hammock, I have lightening vaporize copper wire right out of thermoplastic casing lying on the ground.
Having weathered several severe thunderstorms in a tent, including a lightening strike not 100 feet away during a particularly nasty one near Ithaca, NY. I'd vote for a Hammock.

I don't know which one I would prefer, I just know if I was in a thunderstorm while out camping I would be in a hammock.

Hammock - no doubt.
Love to watch the water run underneath me instead of through my tent!
Easier to set up or take down during a storm and stay dry.
I'd rather sit up then stand up from my hammock rather than crawl out on the
wet ground.
Hammock!!!!!

Hammock, I've never had a tarp leak on me, a tent on the other hand the rain always seems to find that one pin whole to drip through
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.
Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.
