I have hammocked a couple of times in 105+ weather day, around 90 night. Slept relatively ok. Just woke up once or twice and spritzed down with a water bottle with a spray attachment on it to cool down. Didn't fight the moisture/sweat condition. ENO double nest with no insulation and a DIY bug net tied to the tarp CRL. Tarp hung extra high to allow air flow to encourage evaporation. Hung in fairly private area and slept commando which helped a lot with staying cool enough to sleep. Did the Zen thing of thinking of all the times I was too cold while camping. It worked out fine.

This summer has been tough. I have had nights that its still 100 at 9pm. So far so good. I was way better off than I would have been in a tent. A wet towel on my chest helped some. I camped without a tarp and bug net too. I have a thermocell that I use at night as well. Really helps with the bugs.
Lack of preparation on your part does not constitue an emergency on mine.

Not sure who said it ...but I like it

a pole mod on the tarp helps - which ever side the wind is coming from let the pole raise up on that side to funnel the air flow down to the hammock

having a side zip hammock helps some also - if I feel hot I unzip and stick my head out to breath the cooler air provided the bugs aren't too bad

Too hot. I tried two weekends ago and sat there sweating...80 and humid and no breeze. Took off all the quilts and still baked. Skeeters love the weather too.

You all sound like you feel about the same way as I do. I usually do the Zen thing too, but when it's so hot, I set in the air conditioning and meditate on being in the woods.
Predictions are risky, especially when it comes to the future.

Wayyyy to hot for me here in Texas. It was 107 at my house yesterday and still in the high 90's when i went to bed around 10:30. I was in upstate NY a couple weeks ago on business and the highs were low 80's and the lows in the 60's. Made me sick to come home after enjoying those temps for a few days.

I just daydream a bit about Mt Rogers and I cool down. BTW, Mule, will we see you there this year? How's everything going with you
