    Hello from SoCo Hammocks

Just wanted to say hi and let you all know about SoCo Hammocks. My name is Chris Buster and I own SoCo (socially conscious) Hammocks. Every aspect of my business aims to be socially conscious, from paying fair wages for manufacturing to giving 20% of all profits to help feed, educate, and empower the poor. I have lived in the Dominican Republic for the last three years and seen the effects of severe poverty firsthand so I started a company that not only makes great quality products, but also aims to make a difference in the lives of the poor. Currently you can get a free hanging kit with the purchase of a SoCo Hammock.

I'm happy to be a member of HF and would love to answer any questions you might have.

    Welcome from Canada.

I had a look at your website and noticed that the dimensions for both the single and double hammock were the same at 9.5' long and 5' wide. The weights reported are different. I would suspect one of the specs for the hammock is incorrect.

Just a quick tip on your suspension, nylon ropes will stretch due to their nature. If you could source a polyester based rope, that would be preferable as polyester has practically no stretch in it.

    Good luck with your business.

    Cheers

    Brian

Welcome aboard and good luck with you business. Check out the suspension options discussed on the forum, especially the "straps" everyone uses to attach their hammocks to the tree. Straps versus ropes greatly diminish possible damage to the tree.

    Good luck!

    Thanks!

I appreciate the advise and thoughts.

I made the change in dimensions of the single and double. The Double is 6.5 ft in width and the Single is 5ft in width.

I do plan on changing a few things with my suspension including planning on going to Amsteel 7/64 with a piece of webbing to protect the trees.

I am still in the very beginning stages and appreciate your input.

Welcome aboard and good luck on your business ventures. I'm glad to hear that your taking advantage of the knowledge of masses here and using it to improve your product into something more safe and enviromentally responsible.

I only wish all the vendors that have come by here had done that.
