Sword lake, Stanislaus, Ca. My daughter and I

This was just an overnighter than my daughter and I did weekend before this last one. Sword lake is one of the warmest lakes in the Sierra, good for diving and swimming, but not for fishing. Since my teen isn't all that into hiking, we picked a pretty easy one, at 3.2 miles from the trailhead. ( except ....6 miles of very bumpy dirt road to the trailhead).
We brought plenty of food, including Nutella, made a nice little fire and got plenty of good rest. Early in the morning I left for a walk around the lake and when I came back my gal was still asleep, going on 15 hours

Here are a few pictures of our "girls trip"

Thanks for sharing your trip. That is a nice area between the highways. Lots of Jeep trails around larger lakes which doesn't always mean seclusion, but it looks like you found some.
I took a friend from AL up Hwy 4 for his first fly fishing trip. He still talks about that trip when we talk. Living in Modesto, I spent a lot of time in that area.

Count yourself lucky to be able to enjoy this beautiful area. The photos look awesome, but I know do not do the area justice.

Scenery aside, I'm sure the best part of the trip was being able to share this with your daughter! Awesome!

    Thanks

Thanks guys. We did have a sweet time. We are lucky to live somewhere with so many options and beautiful places to see . I have taken my daughter on many adventures and now that she is 15 she is less and less into being out in the woods and the mountains, and more into going to town. I hope the good memories (and laughs) we've had will make her want to go back to nature on her own some day. Then again, we already live out in the woods, she says, so we already have our share of nature daily...
Here are a couple of pictures of our little home I took two days ago when playing with the camera settings.
