    Superglue on cuben?

For my cuben tarp ridgeline webbing tie outs, yesterday I put a bead of superglue on the bartacks to prevent any possible fraying or working loose of the stitches. I also put a good coating of superglue on the exposed cuben corner under the ridgline tie outs. It seems to have made everything alot sturdier and gives some protection to the exposed corner. Has anyone ever done this?

Not me. I probably would have used a urethane based adhesive like Aquaseal for this, but you may be onto something. Let us know how it holds up. I've been using Zap-a-Gap superglue to reinforce stitching and assemble carbon fiber stove stands, and it's very nice for those applications, but I haven't tried it on CTF3. It's not cheap; if you post a follow-up report include what brand of superglue you used. Thanks for expanding our knowledge base.

I just used cheap ole SUPER GLUE from the hardware store. It's clear. I didn't use much just a light bead on the bartacks, and a light coating on the corner. The corner was basically where the two sheets of cuben were sewn together and taped. The edge of the tape was a little exposed and I worried about it working loose on the corner, so I just coated it in super glue. Now its rock hard and not going anywhere.

Keep an eye on the place where "rock hard" meets flexible material.

Right on good point. Really its just the very tip tip of the ridgeline; just where all the cuben comes to a point and smashes together. I did it cause I figured the tie out webbing would rub agaist the tip, and when I took down the tarp the tip would be smashing into the ground.

I WAS BORED AND HAD SUPERGLUE MAINLY. My girlfriend is back at school and now I can do anything I want.

Some superglues don't hold well once wet. However I'm sure it wll hold stitching together.

She left you alone and bored with superglue?

I'll be interested to see how this holds up to everything on cuben...
