You could always look at the Clark Vertex. Pricey, but this is exactly what it is designed for. http://www.junglehammock.com/models/vertex/index.php

Im still fine tuning a 2 person hang under one tarp. My wife and i are starting an AT thru hike in the spring. My plan as of now is to do a 3 tree hang when possible. When that option isnt available, i plan on using hiking poles as a spreader bar. Im going to make some brackets to attatch the poles to the hammocks whoopies that are made of webbing. Bunk bed style is always an option though. There are definately a few options that would work just keep tinkering and you will find something comfortable for you.

The girlfriend and I did a hang this weekend. We got two ENO DNs with Jarbridge UQs under a single Kelty Noah's 12 with a single RL on just a single pair of trees. We were close enough I could stick my head out of the hammock and kiss her goodnight.

Just gotta find the right trees.

We frequently do side by side hangs sometimes they are comfortable sometimes not. Finding the right trees is definitely a plus. I would suggest brining a separate smaller tarp to extend coverage if needed. I had to use my Hennessey Explorer Tarp on a couple of occasions to extend the coverage over my shelf just clipped it to a couple of prussiks I already had on the tarp ridgeline.

Here's a way that I've seen in person. SR1355 has hung this way for a while with no problems
