EagleJ, enjoyed the pics. Hope you enjoyed the trip as much. I love suspension bridges--wish we had more of them!

WOW... the lake is down since July. At Canebrake in July, that whole cove was full.

I did a section hike from Upper Whitewater falls to Oconee State Park two weeks ago. Things had been a little dry in spots until got there, then rain for three days. Lots of slick roots along the river and a few blowdowns, several nice campsites.

This is my home stompin trail, borned and bred...dem foothills spiders don't waste no time. I have met people coming the opposite way on the trail and walk thru webs not minutes later where they just walked...Im thinking these spiders must be on steroids.

You would be thinking right! We night-hiked into a couple of webs with huge spiders on them right at nose level, coming out of Oconee State Park in July. Sometimes we saw them in time, ... one time we didn't! Talk about dancing at midnight under the stars!!!

I described these spiders to my friends and family as being about 8 inches across and weighing about half a pound, though that might have been an itsy-bitsy arachnidic exaggeration.
