Nice find. I'm interested, but does anyone know what the difference between these 2 hammocks are? I mean I see the different specs, but I'm still new to all this and I'm not sure what those differences really mean.

How does ripstop nylon compare to parachute nylon?

One of those is much smaller than the other - how big a difference is:
    97 x 48 inches
    compared to:
    114 x 54 inches

I ask because I'm really interested in picking up a second hammock. I have a Grand Trunk Double which is huge. It's comfy, but I'm very interested in having a smaller one for comparison and so if the need arises I'll have hammocks for my wife and I both!

What is the difference between the one at REI and this http://www.campmor.com/grand-trunk-u...-hammock.shtml , other than color?

They are definitely different hammocks - different weight... ah and the big difference is the cheaper one is polyester and the REI one is parachute nylon.

    Hairball,

Thanks for spelling that out for us newbies. I got to poking around Grand Trunk's website to try and figure it out, but they don't seem to have the same model available directly that REI is clearancing.

    Thanks again!

Yeah I was thrown off by that, too. I'm not sure if the REI one is just a discontinued model or what.

I'm still tempted to pick one up to experiment with.

I'm actually liking the camo one that Campmor has for sale. I live near the store so I'll give it a look next time I'm there.

For me the downside to the wider one is the seam. I feel them and I don't like them.

living the dream! Of course if I lived close to it I'd eventually be banned for coming in there all the time and drooling ..
