    3.8oz DWR

    Hey all,

I picked up some 3.8oz DWR ripstop off diygearsupply.com It worked out really well for my tarp tent but its being a pain to sew now. For some reason the needle seems to get stuck in it and I have been having troubles with the bottom thread not catching. Therefore, I am not making any stitches. What am I doing wrong?

Try a new needle. Make sure its installed according to the owners manual for your machine.
Clean up the bobbin area and make sure theres no stragglin' little threads in/behind the bobbin spool.
Make sure the bobbin and upper thread is routed according to the owners manual for your machine.
Grab some scrap fabric and see if the new needle, cleaning and proper thread routing solved it.

Thanks! I'll give it a try! Maybe something is off.

+1 on gargoyle. Sounds like a needle problem to me. When you change the needle do the "universal reboot" of the machine as well. Take all the thread off the machine. Wind a new bobbin and re-thread the entire machine carefully following directions in the manual.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

"Bless you child, when you set out to thread a needle don't hold the thread still and fetch the needle up to it; hold the needle still and poke the thread at it; that's the way a woman most always does, but a man always does t'other way."
