Miserable time in Yosemite (Not Really)

Got back last week from four days in Yosemite Valley. Our timing was perfect as the first big storm rolled in the night we got there and continued until we left, imagine that. We had permits for Half Dome but 5.5 inches of rain and over two feet of snow shut us down. We still managed to hike up past Vernal Falls and Nevada Falls in the snow and rain. It still made for a fun adventure.

I set up my Hennessy Exped Assym in the Upper Pines Campground and it withstood all that rain without leaking a drop. I slept warm and cozy using my underquilt.

I shot a bunch of video and took lots of photos.

Thanks for sharing your trip with us all. It's the closest I'll come to ever getting there. The only thing missing is the fresh air smells of the mountains. The weather is similar to what my boys and I had when we visited Yellowstone in October A few years ago.

What planet is that! We never see that place on the travel shows. Must be the closely guarded top secret sector 21a. I like the little tent with the little bed not switching though! I liked that you showed things that dont normally make the final video cut. Those hills are so different. A lot of water falling down a very impressive waterfall. It was great to see it from different angles. The look down the falls had the wow factor. PIZZA! I really enjoyed that something Id see on TV. Thanks very much for putting it together!

    Glacier point was so empty!

Could be worse, last November I got 18" of snow overnight in Upper Pines lol. Not too much day hiking is available mid-winter

Beautiful. Thanks for sharing. The weather is very unpredictable after about mid-September, as you saw (and felt!). I did that trip the second week of September about 5 or 6 years ago except we backpacked to Little Yosemite Valley and camped there (about a half mile past where you stopped above Nevada Falls IIRC.) We were lucky - it was a warm and sunny 72 degrees atop Half Dome and we swam in the Merced River by our camp to wash the sweat and dust off after the climb. You were there 3 weeks later in the year and look at the difference!
