    New sew PLUQ users.....

    That should say "No sew".

How do you keep the "extra" insulation from slipping around? I bought some batting hoping to "beef up" the Pl but noticed I am having a devil of a time keeping it from just sliding around before I get it where I want.

I also have one of the left over down throws from Knotty's UQ thread and thought about using that, but the same problem.

    Any ideas?

Sticky-back velcro, safety pins, or even some line put through the layers (use the same hot pin method you used to run the shock cord and line through the poncho liner, except go through the layers completely) should hold it in place.

From what I've seen, most PLUQ users who have additional insulation between the layers have gone to a sew-'em-up version rather than the no-sew.

    Hope it helps!

Yeah, I used the thread injector and ran it back and forth a few times for the Insultex (or whatever it was) I sandwiched in the middle.

I was afraid of that. It looks like I will ultimately sew the thing, but for now I want to retain full blanket potential from the PL until I figure out what works best.

    Thanks guys.

Just made one and used it on the pre-hike and 2011 Fall MAHHA ... I didn't run the line down the wedged shape side..I use that side to enter my clark hammock and found it worked better without the line there .... I also used Inslul-Fleece for the middle layer...I used a few safety pins to keep it place..worked perfectly...lowest temp was 47*F... i also had a 30''X50'' pad I made from tyvek...two 1/8'' polypropylene layers and two sheets of Mylar .. stayed very warm at anything above 50*F...with no layers of clothing...anything above 60*F ...for me..it was like a heating pad...I'll test it to lower temps when I get them ...

I haven't used it just yet, but I'm hoping for 40's-ish. Florida doesn't get too cold luckily.

Mine did fine with no alterations down into the upper forties. Wearing a cotton t-shirt, cotton boxers, cotton cargo shorts (moderate weight), a poly/cotton baseball cap, while using a poncho liner with the foot-end ties made into a footbox as top insulation, and a throw pillow from the couch as a knee pillow, the PLUQ got me down to forty-six and a lightly variable wind (0 to 5 MPH) with no discomfort whatsoever. I'm a very hot sleeper, though...

Used mine in mid 30s for a bit last night. But I was wearing lots of layers with fleece and used a 40deg bag as well.

had mine down to 39 last night, using a 20 degree bag as a TQ. I stayed plenty warm, but I'm a warm sleeper. I'm going to beef mine up with a couple layers of IX
