    1 post closer...

So, I guess I'll have to keep posting then and this puts me just one more post closer to that magic figure...

From most videos I've seen with these pots and alcohol stoves, it doesn't look very efficient with side-burners. I have a small stainless steel wide-bottom pot that I use that is light, strong and has the kind of bottom area that can really take advantage of the side burner type.
I can't buy something without first considering whether I could just make it myself instead. How'd I get so screwed up?

I've seen this a few times and wondered what it stands for?

Also, is the op talking about the rim which fits inside of the can?

pass it forward, onething. you have to have 50 posts to reach a part of the forum where you can get free gear if its offered by another forumer if you have free gear to "pass forward". just found out about this myself. pretty cool of the guys here.

Actually, it's "pay it foward". If you see something in there, that you want, you claim it, then you must "pay it forward", by posting something in return. When you hit the 50 mark and check it out, you'll see, it's pretty cool.

Through out HF, you will find many that are willing to go out of their way to give you free stuff they either have replaced or have extra. It's a family of hammockers you never knew you had.... and now you know.
The more group hangs you go to the more knowledge you soak up and the more HF family you get to meet.
A great big "keep it hanging" to all here.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

I don't think the OP can make his own, unless he has an old "mini keg style" heineken can lying around. I had read posts saying they weren't making them any more, and asked the local distributor at a beer store - he said as far as he knows, they were discontinued. He suggested I buy a real mini keg. That would make a good turkey fryer, but not so much a backpacking pot.

I have one that you may have. When you get enough posts you can enter the pass it forward group and add something.

    Molson XXX

The only problem is you have to drink the Heineken (blech!).
Molson XXX actually makes a 24oz can same as the new Heineken's, but this beer is actually drinkable and the can is already black. As someone already posted, these are really easy to make. Take it from someone with little to no skill whatsoever, if I can do it without much bloodshed, anyone can.
