I carry a Gossamer Gear Nite Lite pad as my back support in my Murmur and Gorilla Packs. Normally I use it as a sit pad but twice it came in handy in my hammock when temps dropped lower than the UQ I was carrying at the time could handle. Never have had to go to ground thank God.
CCF pad IN the pack (ULA Ohm) for support, does double duty as a sit pad in camp.
I'm NOT going to ground, so don't need it.
When you have a backpack on, no matter where you are, you’re home.
PAIN is INEVITABLE. MISERY is OPTIONAL.
Couldn't live without my sit pad. Its gossamer gear 1/8" ccf cut 20" x 20". I fold it up and sit on it, use it as a backpack pad for my murmur, foot pad (but I hate using foot pads so I avoid it), and like last trip, I got the smallest chill on my lower back so I threw it under me.
I also have the other part of the pad, 20" x 40" that ill take when I expect to be sitting on my butt a whole lot.
pad is part of my gg pack frame - 3/4" torso - so its weight is integrated

DOWNTOWN BROWN!!!!
I just bring a cut off section of a Walmart blue pad as a sit pad.
It can be a real life saver under your butt in the hammock when you have cold butt syndrome.

All my hiking is in New England, so I have no lack of trees, therefore no concern whatsoever about having to go to ground. I do carry a foot-pad made of Reflectix, and it doubles as a sit-pad during the day. If I'm ever fortunate enough to fit an AT thru-hike into my life, I think I will then carry a 3/4 CCF pad.

Surely, God never did.
