    Could use Ironwire (1,000lb test). I wasn't able to get the UL to work for me at any RL length. There's no stretch like nylon.

    I use paracord / adjustable knot around 90" long
    Doesnt make a big difference in the hang comfort for me, but hangs my bug net and a few things I need while in the hammock...

    550 would make more of a RL than an SRL. The stretch would eliminate most of the structural benefits and leave you with a quite serviceable sock hanger.
