I'm drawn to the open country. Its where the world makes the most sense. When I put myself out there I always return with something new.
Thanks for sharing and showing the hammocks and other stuff.
Awesome video effort Medicineman!
I'm thinking that 74 would be good for a July/August fishing trip since the air sweeps down from the Dome.
Thanks every body Always good to be amongst those who stretch fabric.
Southmark......I had the notion of New Years Eve on RHK, posted such, but you were the only one who showed interest....but that is where I plan to spend New Years. We had discussed Mt. Mitchell but it was nixed I think due to no road access.
BEAS-love shuttling hikers in my area-I've been shuttled gratis so many times myself. My problem is that I'm usually out hiking/paddling/biking and not in my area
BlueJeans- it's a Mountain Ocarina, $24 lifetime warantee 2.4 ounces......and while there is dedicated music for it, it can also play bagpipe music.
After being home a day I reflected on the Grizz Jet-so simple so light but it did a wow job in the CC.
Nice, I always wanted to hike that area!
Curious: what is the name of that song you are playing in the tunnel to nowhere? Sounds like something I'd like to learn on the flute.
When you have a backpack on, no matter where you are, you’re home.
PAIN is INEVITABLE. MISERY is OPTIONAL.
In the dark it was Cumberland Crew....on the hike out it was my version of Snowy Pearl. Thanks Doctari. I'm sure you know but for those that don't, you can set up any number of extended loops hikes from there.
One hike I want to do is get water shuttled (by Fontana Marina) to Hazel Creek and hike back to the Road To Nowhere. Its a two day hike but I'd like to take 3 and enjoy the area, and as Wisenber suggests end up back at Campsite 74 when its hot out...that was a bone chilling place to hang; but really it was us because if you (and we did) go uphill 1/2 mile it was at least 8 degrees warmer. Proximity to the creek and fishing hopes overruled warmth but all were warm in the hammocks....in my case on the last night too warm-the power of 1/4 ccf minicell.
nice video and pics (above)

Who cares about showers, gourmet food, using flush toilets. Just keep on walking and being away from it all.
There are times that the only way you can do something is to do it alone.
