    Hey SilvrSurfr,

I really enjoyed your videos. I don't think I would want to do a night hike where I had not been before. I did a solo a while back and made a video of it. I did run out of daylight and did hike in the dark for about 40 minutes but it was on a trail I was very familiar with. Surprisingly I found it much easier to hike without my headlamp on. Only in a few tricky areas did I use the headlamp.

Glad you had a good time and made it out again. I look forward to more videos from you.
    Take care,
    Bluefin

Bluefin I really liked the video of your solo hike. That was some beautiful country. What I especially liked is that you let the scenery do the talking. I try to do the same but my mouth never cooperates!

I do not like hiking with the LED headlamp; the LED light is so unnatural. I hiked for a while without it, but once I got lost a few times I figured it might help me see the reflectors nailed on the tree. So much for that idea!

By the way that Mountain House processed stuff can really mess with (clog) your plumbing.
Dylan - I really wish I could have seen what the Lower Forge campsite was like. I might try again the day after Thanksgiving. Kayak Karl is gonna be at Batona Friday night, then maybe I'll hike with him on his way to Buttonwood while I stay at Lower Forge. After my misadventures, I know I don't have an 18-mile hike in my legs!

I'm not a big fan of the Mountain House meals, but I bought a few and have to get rid of them. I could see how eating those meals for a few days might force you to make like a mathematician and work it out with a pencil. I'm still exploring options on trail cuisine.

Try WiseFoodStorage.com. They have the boil-in-bag outdoor meals, but I buy the more compact long term packages. They're great, taste and service. Call up, you get your own salesman, and a free sample. Honestly, unless I knew, I wouldn't have guessed they were dehydrated meals.

Nice videos. Always good to know our limits. I'm glad you ended up safe and with no encounter with the Jersey Devil.

Good work on the video, I always wondered what the Pine Barrens look like, kind of flat and barren with pine trees.

Your uncanny humor is so addicting ... one of the reasons I had a blast hiking with you ... I'll take rocks over sand any day ... lot's of that where I'm from ... it just drains your energy ... you definitely need to drop some some pack weight ... that 10lb Starbucks mug might be a good place ... I prefer to not use the "L'' word ... aimlessly wondering at times and disorientated is my preferred method ... get 'ya a dehydrator ... your chili is friggin awesome ... and Oh... the dehydrator doesn't go in your pack ... it stays home...

Keep 'em coming my Brother ... that's some good stuff !!
