Whacky hammock idea - footbox AND headbox?

OK, I just know that SOMEONE here has tried to make a hammock with a footbox on one side and a headbox on the other side.

So, it's time to confess and spill the details of the results!

Yep ,we talk about that last year and this year, at the hang, made one and it was great, good flat lay, problem was the sides to tight you can get in but you can't get out or atleast that was my result

    Southpaw:
The Night Owl is a variation of that. It doesn't have the extra material that a real footbox has. It's purpose is to tighten up sloppy sides. It doesn't add volume to the hammock.

I hadn't thought of the getting out problem. But, I can imagine that could be a hurdle (pun intended)

Thanks Mike, Something else to try and wrap these old brain cells around. I diffenately liked the extra volume in your BB last weekend. Just trying to mentally visualize the attachments of UQ, netting, etc from my brief exposure to your BB. Guess what I'll be doing as I nod off tonight.

Ah, I see. I went and looked at. Looks like it just has draw strings.

I would think that it would be easiest to do a modified Jerry5 Hammock and put a bottom entry in so that it would be easier to enter and exit the taught sided hammock.

I think it was Hangandbankhead or bankheadboy that had one...

The sides came up so high, he had to add a vertical zipper to escape.

    I'll look for that photo....

Not to be so easily discouraged (i.e. hardheaded), I've been trying to find a way around the exit problem.

How about this for a half-baked idea: sew only one side of the headbox triangle to the hammock edge. Then have a hook to attach the other point of the triangle to the hammock edge where it would normally be sewn. Maybe also attach that side of the triangle with the zipper.

Simply unhook the triangle to enter & exit, then re-hook it when inside. Some contorsion would probably be needed to take any stress off that side until it's hooked.

Any bugnet would have to be separate for this to work.

What do you think? Does my imaginary hammock have holes in it? Fire away!

I've been thinking about this for a few months. The problem I see is with my WBBB dbl. How do I put a headbox in and keep the dbl layer fitting OK?

I had not thought about the exit issue. Hmmm...Could the zipper be placed 2-3 inches below shoulder height? Also, I see what MAD777 means by the bug net must be separate.
So this won't work on my WBBB.
Gosh, do I have buy some new gear?
