I vote for early in the month

Car camping would be fun, but I prefer to put in a few miles before setting up camp. So...first choice is to backpack

What will you be trying out?

I like car-camping expeditions since I can bring stuff I want to try out AND the oh-gosh-that-was-a-daft-idea-what-was-I-thinking backups without having to carry both sets of stuff on my back.

I have tried a pad instead of an underquilt in the past. I realize now that I probably had had my Big Agnes inflated too much. I was also very new to hammocking and had not a clue how a hammock should feel.
So I'll be trying a pad out for one night.

    What will you try?

I think I have at least two of everything and I hope to whittle down the choices. Probably be trying four or five alcohol stoves and different wind screens, to see if I can cook a real meal or should stick to boiling water.

Looking forward to seeing others' set-ups and gear, seeing how they use it and shamelessly borrowing their ideas, (as I've done to pretty near everyone on HF: Mea Culpa.).

Bump. Trying to keep the Nor-Cal hangs on the same page.

Sounds good! I didn't vote in the poll, but now that the date has been set, I will try to be there.

Eay asked previously what new gear we would be trying out on this hang. I will be testing out a new CCF insulated bridge hammock that I made. Hopefully, I will also be trying out my BackCountry Boiler if the group purchase is delivered by then.

I would love to come hang in Nor-Cal but unfortunately I have a hike and camp with the scouts that weekend. But it will be the first time I hang in the wild. Dblhammock I am real interested in your Dbl bridge. I am looking to get my gf hanging not sure if she likes the idea of 2 hammocks 1 tarp. Have fun y'all.

I coincidentally have been doing some more work with my double bridge just last week. Re-designing the head suspension. I know that I already gave up trying to make it work between only two trees, but I am going to try some more.

The difference is, now I will attempt to use the LuxuryLite Big Stik that I now carry. It replaces two separate head end poles. Additionally, I found that having no poles at all at the head end requires too much tension on the suspension.

The stick breaks down and becomes BOTH the head end and foot end spreaders of my new CCF hammock. This combo (not the double Hammock) will be brought to the Boggs Mt. hang.

Bondo, sorry we won't see you there, although it is a good cause that you are taking on. Maybe your GF will warm up to two hammocks under one tarp, if you find other ways to have together time. It is the simpler solution. A double hammock will always be more fiddley to set up.

I am thinking 2 hammocks is the only way we will get it done. I'm 6' 245 and she is 5'6" 125. LOL
