Naw, I live in the country, the neighbors across the street have one. The next door neighbor has about 4. I'm not sure what the attraction is other than having the ability to eat fresh chicken if they piss you off too much.

Fresh eggs and also an endless supply of new chickens to eat when coupled with hens!
So with your Bug Hut, are you placing trail rocks in each corner to hold it out (plenty of those in the Sierras)? Maybe a velcro "birth canal" on the bottom to open up and cook? I was going to suggest the "birth canal" as an entry mode to keep too many Skeeters from coming inside with you but noticed you are wanting to use it as a go to ground (shudder) rig too.
BTW I live 3/4 of an hour from Walker Pass (Kennedy Meadows is longer but close enough) if you need any logistics help when traveling the PCT in our backyard.
The next door neighbor has hens and that makes sense. The guy across the street is just special. Search my youtube channel for car in the creek and you can see his handy work.
Naw, it stakes out. The go to ground is just a back up option. I'd rather walk extra miles to find some trees than sleep on the ground. So with your Bug Hut, are you placing trail rocks in each corner to hold it out (plenty of those in the Sierras)? It is probably going to be years before I make an assault on the PCT, but when I can't hike I think about hiking and stuff like this happens. I've got about 10 ideas going on in my head at any time and occasionally they seem good enough to try. I'm also working on a portable hammock stand (thanks to HOI) and going for the sub 10 pound winter hammock trip again this year. Add to that I'm trying to finish my 2012 guidebook, fix my server issue, plan a April hike on the AT, and a few other balls in the air.

Anyhow, when I do go to the West you are welcome to come out and hike along if you can keep up LOL.
I neglected to upload these plans and IDJAY asked me about them. So here they are to make up for that oversight.
Did you ever finish? How's it look?

Getting lost is not a waste of time.
how about a fronkey style bug net
with a adjustable drawstring at the bottom and stakeouts/pullouts in the bottom 4 corners?
you could then set up puckerd snap/ velcro corners on your tyvek to tub it and add small stakouts that line up with ones on the bug net. with elastic bottom you could just lift up an edge and crawl under.
Yes I finished it. There is a video on my youtube channel
