I think for me it depends on where my butt is placed. I can be left or right more or less in banana or diagnal.
Thanks for the input.
I did turn it upside down to no avail.
I even took the suspension off and then put it larkshead back on.
It's a gathered end with a channel. I have not re whipped it (if that is the right term for a gathered end)
I keep mentioning the floppy sides. I don't mind them per se, but I think they are a clue.
If you have a gathered end you know the sides ride up high and tight. That is not happening.
As to the double entendres, I have been married a long time so those other thoughts no longer occur to me (or my wife)

Review Jeff's article. I think he has your answer.

Possibly with yor adjustable RL, it loosened up and became once again a banana. Have you tried putting the SRL back on and cranking it really short?
.... the Aardvark (earth pig)... a rather unremarkable creature whose sole claim to fame is that it is the first animal listed in the dictionary.

I agree that a loosened adjustable ridge-line is the best explanation for the phenomena. If it was longer and when hanging it you pulled tight enough to make it taut, you'd have a harder center line of force down the middle, and the sides would not be so floppy than when the ridgeline was shorter.

It is an adjustable ridge line. After the problem appeared I did adjust it to no avail. I no longer have them up so I will have to continue testing later. I will concentrate on the ridge line. This is frustrating I have never had anything like yhis happen before.
On the positive side, if I figure it out it will be useful to recreate. It woukd not be comfy to sleep in all night, but i was set up three feet from a slow rolling river. the floppy sides made for a great view.
I have just bought a HH, tried it in my garden and had this problem, didn't matter how i moved around in it there was a definite line down the centre. I have never hung a hammock before so would be very interested how to get rid of this or i can see my tent being used again.
