I am looking for car camping site(s) that may be within a 30 minute drive from Columbia inthe mornings.

Been there done that about 6 years ago. Decent park, not very far from the thick of things in Cola. Should be suitable for hammock camping from what I can remember.

btw - shoot me a msg when you get into this area. maybe we can have a meet up while you are near.

I've been there, but never camped there. It is pretty close to civilization, but you do drive a little ways back into the woods. I can't think of a better place within 30 minutes of downtown, although there may be something available on Lake Murray. If you were able to drive a bit farther, there'd be a lot more options. Happy hanging!

Not sure if you have checked into Dreher Island State Park but it could be a suitable option as well. Just guessing but it may be about the same distance to Columbia as Sesqui. Based on timing and schedule, I'd be willing to meet up if it is convenient for all schedules.
