    Greetings from Brooklyn, New York!

    Hello all.

I've been wanting to get out into the woods more often and decided that there's no better motivator than having to justify all the gear you just bought. When I realized what a great fit hammocks were for backpacking I couldn't get them out of my head. I have always really loved hammocks and always been sorely deprived as I am a city boy suffering from congenital lack of trees and porches, I have probably hung in a hammock no more than a handful of times. Bought myself an ENO DoubleNest cause they had a color offering I could not resist (rasta) and spent the last week or two reading HF late into the night.

Got my first hang in yesterday and it was a stealth hang too. After a couple hours searching and fence climbing found what I believe to be the only part of Prospect Park out of sight of any paths or roads and finally got to string my baby up.

Bet you wouldn't have guessed I was right in the middle of Brooklyn.

My ring buckle suspension worked out great (I ordered supplies for my suspension before I got to pt. 3 of Grizz's intro suspension vids where he explains what whoopies are!). My tarp hanging attempt is not pictured as it did not go nearly so well. Forgot a knot, using brittle sticks as stakes, burnt myself sealing many paracord cuts on a windy day, etc. Only stuck around for a few hours til the cold got to me, figured my "believe me I am not trying to live in the park" line for any parks people that found me would be more flimsy if I was loaded down with insulation so I just laid in my coat. But man, let me say that hammock was comfy! I am very excited to learn more and get hanging in some real woods. I'm really happy this place exists so I can nerd out to my heart's content in the meantime. Hang loose!

When I read the title of this thread: "Greetings from Brooklyn NY" I immediately thought to myself that he must be hanging in Prospect Park. Lo and behold, I was right!

I have to go to the local park to fiddle with my hammock as well, as I live in a condo and don't have a yard with trees.

    Welcome!
