    Another DIY bottle holder

With all of the winter camping I do I have never upgraded my cold weather, under the coat, bottle holder. It is long overdue

I had been using a 30 caliber ammo pouch with a knot in the cord to shorten it, it's pretty crude

Also, wanting to add a neck knife to the winter kit I came up with this.

It holds 2 one pint bottles, with an extra pocket for sunscreen or whatever.
Shock cord to keep it from swinging forward when you lean over.

Just need snow and cold now to give it a try

Very well done TZ. Well thought out, and superbly executed, even has a touch of a Mae West vest look to it.
    Good luck,

Lots going on in the background thats for sure. Thats the least cluttered corner

Lots of leftovers from when the kids were home. In the corner I can see 2 of their grad gowns.
I used the neck scarves as patterns for mine, to get the backs to come together and lay on the neck correctly. 2 pair of snowshoes in the rafter areas. Lots of stuff still needs to be cleaned out

TZ, that thing is awesome! Any concern with the material on the side of your neck? Do you think it would rub? Maybe a connection from the point in the back to the shock cord waist band to pull it down just a hair?

I have sensitivity issues from time to time with things rubbing.
Look up before you hook up!!

Pretty cool water bottle holder, but not as cool as some of those shirts hanging. Are they from the 60s? You can get good money for that retro look!

So the holder doesn't interfere with your pack straps? I'm assuming you put on the holder first and pack after.

In winter, I usually have a neck gaitor or buff around my neck so not much of an issue for me. It actually lays quite a bit flatter than in the photo. I also wear suspenders to hold up multiple layers and not bind around the waist.

Some of those shirts are silk, pretty good for hot weather hiking.
Many others are pretty old WW2 surplus, interesting to look at how they are assembled

Never tried it with a pack on, In the colder season I use a pulk.
With the bottles on the front like that the pack would have to be put on first, less than ideal.

Most excellent TZ and you've given me an idea for a lightweight tenkara fishing vest.
