This doesn't surprise me one bit. After attempting to figure out how down booties (and a DIY Blackrock hat) are made, I gave up and just bought some from Paul. Labor-intensive indeed.

John, those look outstanding. I am always impressed by your DIY skills. Well done.

Very nice job John! I bought some extra material with another project with the intent of making booties from the left overs. That material has been sitting in my closet for close to a year! Everytime I think about making than, I just see more problems. You're a brave man, John!

Way to go John as I know from looking at my Flamethrowers alot of work goes into them. Can't go wrong with down booties. The wife, as hot natured as she is, loves the heck out of her FT. And so do I. And so lite weight, worth their weight in gold? Sure thing.

These are definitely nothing like flamethrowers... but since I don't see snow... much...these will work great.

Update: I pulled the CCF sole, and found some heavy PVC backed polyester. I'm sewing it on the prototype. The plan is to cut a ccf insert.

This is an ultra-simple design. If I wanted to make it a bit better, I would sew the two layers together separately at the toe and around the sole connection. Right now, the slippers are sewn-through at the top of the foot. I'm thinking seam tape would help reduce any draft there... or maybe just iron-on hem tape and a strip of IX or something...

Baja... once I work this out, I could probably be convinced to make a mate for the prototype...

TY for the kudos. Believe it or not, these are surprisingly simple to make... until you get to the soles...
