Canvas Tarps at Terra Rosa Gear

    Hi Everyone,

Leaning to the other side of the weight spectrum with inspiration from the old days for these ones.

I have been working on a series of Canvas tarps dubbed the Bushcrafting tarps. The first one up and done is the 3x3 meter (10x10foot) and will be followed over the next few weeks with a 3x2 meter(10x8foot).

The canvas is an Australian woven 270gsm (8oz) with solid brass hand set eyelets. Custom sizes are no problem at all and there are a number of different colours available

I hope that these tarps add a new option and open some new doors for hammockers.

Please check them out and let me know what you think.

    Hi HitchHiking,
Nice website lot's of tarps to choose from.
I couldn't imagine how pricey it would be to ship a canvas tarp to the US but heah there's camper's
and bushcrafter's all over the world. Best of luck with your products.

If your looking of ideas to expand your inventory? A nice canvas hot tent would be a good option.

That is some sweet look'n gear ya have there. I like the canvas a lot, would be great around a fire. Are you going to be sticking with the tarps or will you move into "shaped tarps" like the Whelen lean-to and the George tent etc.?
    Good luck,

Ah yeah a Hot Tent would be very nice. Could be done easily. Get another bit of canvas for the flap closures at the ends and install a stove jack.

Yeah its great around the fire. I have been thinking about the shaped tarps as well. I will see if people want them. I can always do one off customs. I have Col Townsend Whelen's book with Bradford Angier - On Your Own in the Wilderness and it has the original patterns for both the Forester tent and Whelen Lean to as well as a simple Campe Fire Tent. Its also a fantastic book.

She's a beauty. Just out of curiosity why do you go with the grommets rather than sewn on tabs for the guy-out points?

Yeah, the eyelets are so simple and effective. The main reason is because the 8 oz canvas has the strenght to hold them with out them pulling out. You can also pitch right to the ground as they will take more pegs as well.
Eyelet are to canvas what webbing and dee rings are to sil nylon.

That 3x2 meter one looks nice. I see you're using 8 oz. canvas. Is it waterproofed or fire resistant? Any chance of using a lighter canvas or oiled/waxed cotton?
