That's thinkin with the old noodle...they look great! If you do have problem with the reflectix popping, you could always use CCF...not quite as packable, but just as functional.

I'm gonna give this a try with Tyvek, maybe a double layer with ccf in the bottom. Not sure if traction will be an issue in snow, but I'm only toodling around camp so hopefully it's not an issue.

*update* After applying the silicone seam seal on the inside and outside of the seams I did a water test in my bathtub and after about 10 minutes of being in 1" deep water there was not a drop of water on the inside so I think they should work great for walking in snow. I applied some treads on the bottom for a little traction and cut a second set of reflectix insoles to slip in under the down booties to help with the cold. The final weight on the bootie covers is 6.6oz for the pair, not bad for warm and dry feet

I went ahead and made some Tyvek bootie covers - gonna test them out this weekend at the NJ Winter Hang. I used Tyvek tape and they ain't pretty, but hopefully they'll keep my booties clean and dry around camp.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's just that they are so darned ugly.

I traced a pattern of the bootie sole. Then I measured the diameter of the sole pattern and cut 6.5" widths of Tyvek to make the upper. I made channels for drawstrings, taping them with a 1" wide piece of Tyvek.

I taped the uppers to the sole with 2" Tyvek tape. After trying them on over the down booties, I decided I didn't need a drawstring since they were plenty snug. I just took the Tyvek, folded it over and taped it to make it more snug.

We'll see how they hold up. Plenty of rain expected for the NJ Winter Hang 2012 this week, so I should be sloshing around in plenty of crappy weather.
