Winter Tarp for a Bridge Hammock?

I'm looking to make a new tarp for my Bridge Hammock, and I'm curious what dimensions other folks find 'big enough'. It seems like bridge hammocks typically need a bit wider footprint than gathered end hammocks because of the spreader bar. I tried a 9'x11' tarp and punched a hole with the end of the spreader bar

In the summer I'd just pitch the tarp at a shallower angle, but in the winter I'd really like to get the sides of the tarp nice and low to the ground. How big should I aim for?

If - if he stood! Enough of ifs!

I have liked 12x10 for mine, optimally with side panel pull outs so I can pull the sides out from the spreaders. The suspension on my bridges are usually close to 12' apex to apex, so the longer tarp covers a bit more on the ends which is convenient if your tarp has doors.

I like the look of Paul's Hard Rock Winter Tarp, but I think I would ask him to make me a custom 12' RL if I were to buy one. Just my preference, I'm sure the 11' stock RL would probably be fine in most cases. Scottybdiving posted some nice pics of his here. And MuseJr here.

thanks for the info on paul's tarp. That tarp is huge. No worries about the spreader bar hitting the sides of that tarp. Good job paul

Good lord! that tarp is huge! Paul, what's the weight and the width of the 11' RL model? I don't see that info on the webpage.

Fair warning, I might have to steal a few of the features I see on that thing. It looks fantastic!

Yeah, ol' Shug did that to, but it was his $300 HG Cuban tarp...yikes! The good thing with cuben though is it's easy to slap a Kentucky chrome bandaid on to fix'r up... LOL!

Holy crap. He punched a hole in that cuben tarp already?

Man I'd be in a whole new dimension of ticked off if I did that. The tarp I ripped was a no kidding tarp. Blue poly piece of junk. It just served as a lesson learned.

Good thing cuben is a lot easier to repair than any of the other tarp materials.
