I don't use a ridgeline...I just attached a rope and a plastic Fig 9 to either 'end' of my tarp, which is stored in snakeskins. The rope on either end is run through fish tank air tubing. All I do is unwrap one side from the skin, put it around the tree and guesstimate how far out to put the Fig 9. Walk to the other side and repeat...and the tarp is up and usually requires no adjustment. If it does need adjustment...no issue, and no complicated knots to fuss with.

It's easy, it's fast, and requires very little 'extra' gear.

I suspect the tubing is for protection of the tree bark from the rope and the rope from the tree bark (abrasion).

    Cheers

I use a ridgeline with prussiked mini biners to the ridgeline to attach the tarp, and prussiked fig 9s to attach the ridgeline to the trees.

I use a ZingIt CRL with a Dutchhook on one side and a Dutch Fly on the other. The tarp is attached with prusiks so that it can be moved along the line.

Makes perfect sense to me. Thanks!

Now I can go dig out some old fish tank junk, grab the tubing ... and maybe sell an old filter or two and buy a nice tarp!

I've been doing the continuous RL as shown on pg 71 of the Ultimate Hang, ever since I got the book, and I really like it.
    Good luck,
