Hello Chad,
It's good to see so many from Oklahoma getting the hammock bug. Where in Oklahoma are you? I currently have a Hennessey that is off getting modified by the great and powerful pair of 2Q & ZQ. Lots of options for hammocks. My wife hangs in an ENO. If you are interested in seeing several options of hammocks check out the info on upcoming trips here on the forum. There is little get together in the Kiamichi's as well as what looks to be a decent sized gathering over in NW Arkansas in March on the Buffalo River. It would be a good chance to meet some folks and see some gear. I imagine someone may even have some extra gear you could try as that seems to be the norm for the fine folks here. I have not yet made a decision as to go or not but thought this might help you out as you begin exploring the world of hammocks. Good luck and enjoy the swing! To the trees!!

HI Chad, from Dierks AR. The Kiamichi River OK hang has been mentioned and there is also one at Kyles Landing on the Buffalo River soon. Check the group hang area for info.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. I will not be able to make this weekends hang, but I may try for the one in March. And I appreciate the offers from Kahuna and Zac to see the rigs in this area and when I get closer to getting one I will likely take you up on that. I will continue to visit the forum and I look forward to getting into Hammock backpacking and camping.
Welcome to the MADNESS!!!! Good luck with your journey to find the perfect hammock for you...
Ok,
I know it has been a year since i started looking for a hammock, and I have yet to purchase one or try one out. But I am planning on hiking the Kalalau trail this year and i don't want to sleep on the ground. I have narrowed my search down to the Hennesy and the WBBB based on reviews and what I "think" I am looking for. But none of the features matter if it is not comfortable, so I am throwing this out there to see if there are any hangs coming up this spring in OK in which I could go try out some different setups or if there is anyone in the Tulsa area that would be willing to let me try theirs out. I am also open to suggestions. So far this community has been very helpful and I welcome advice and suggestions, both on hammock selection and the Kalalau trail (going late August into September).
Also, Boothill's comment above is funny and I had not considered it.
Hey Chad, I live in the Tulsa area and hike at Turkey Mtn. frequently. I usually bring all of my gear with me to try and stay in shape. You are welcome to have a look at my setup some weekend.
