    Here's a cat calculator that should help with making a pattern for the cat cuts. http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...light=catenary I would suggest making a template out of cardboard or heavy paper first, then marking the fabric. Using a hot knife or soldering iron makes cutting the fabric easy.

    Start hitting the goodwill

    find a couple of king size Egyptian cotton sheets, sew/mod to suit, and treat with linseed oil or silicone.

    The cat cut seems scary but it need not be. I use fiberglass rods from Harbor Freight made for fishing a wall. Any bendy pole or rod will do. I place a book on each end of my tarp corner where I want to start my curve. Then I measure in how deep I want my curve and put a mark with a sharpie. I have used a string to pull the rod and I have also just held the rod in place with my hand and drew my line. On my first tarp I figured out all the measurements and it plotted it all out on the fabric and that took forever. I have really become a keep it simple type of guy.
