If you are talking about the NCT - Manistee River Trail loop, then I can recommend it whole heartedly. It is a beautiful area, plenty of camping (though water is a bit scarce along the NCT side. You are following the river, but there is no access to it from the ridge easy access from the River Trail side). Easy to follow, easy hiking. If you are experienced, one night is all that is necessary, or you could hike shorter days and make it a longer trip.

Another excellent trip is the Jordan River Valley west of Gaylord. Parking/Trailhead at Dead Man's Hill, Camping at Penney Bridge Hike-in Campground. Highly Recommended.

Great hiking destination...good hanging destination...I personally prefer the Manistee side to the NCT side...mainly because of it's access to water...
