wfuballer21, I just realized that I gave you the wrong thread. That was an earlier trip were we didn't make it to Daffodil Flats.
I'll try to find the link to the pictures.

There's also a historical writing that Angrysparrow linked for me. I'll see if I can find that.

    Thanks Angrysparrow.
The part I find most interesting in that writing is where it begins to tell about the two brothers going into the gorge to try homesteading.

Great to see a person going to the Gorge! My scout troop camped at the Linville Gorge many times. Our favorite was Wisemans View and we would just unload there. That was before it got "all fancied up". Also buddies and I in our high school and college days loved going into the gorge to camp. We usually did the "Pinch In" trail as it seemed the steepest and most remote to us. It is the steepest. A lung-burner! In 1996 my buddy Kent and I did the whole length of the gorge on the Babel tower side. I remember that it was a challenge .... the trail disappears a lot and it also goes up and down, up and down, up and down. I did not hammock at that time but there would be no shortage of trees down in the gorge.
Wonderful memories had in the Linville Gorge. A special place to me...
    Have a brilliant trip.
