TR: Michigan group hang Feb 24-26, 2012

i thought i'd start a thread but I thought for sure there would have been one by now. it was a great time, we had a great spot with tons of wildlife walking through the site and park. we had a raccoon testing out the inside of a hammock. tons of firewood - too much we couldn't burn it all. ton's of great food - craig for breakfast, kevin with the stew and paul with the chilli. we had random cars driving through the park just to have a look at us like it was a drive through zoo. friday night we had a great pizza dinner - really roughed it. plenty of trees to hang from and great people to laugh with.
i do have to say thank you to Tom (tzbrown) for letting me try out his boreal shirt (http://www.empirecanvasworks.com/boreal.htm), i've never worn a wool shirt like this but now i'm a firm believer of it. i could not believe how work it was with so little layering. i will be adding one of these to my collection sometime. the raffle was great - thank you all for all the great gear that was added to it, i'm sure many of us are trying to figure out when the next trip will be to use it.

i'm glad new people joined us, i hope to see them along with the familiar faces again.

I had a great time talking, eating and hiking in the area. Looking forward to heading back up in the summer when a little swimming can be done. Thanks for the raffle gift TZ. I've got some pictures on my phone from a day of hiking. Now all I have to do is figure out how to get them on line. To all you non believers that thought I wouldn't make it back

I had a blast as usual.
Many thanks to those that prepared food, fetched water, chased raccoons from hammocks and found car keys in the snow.
I had a mechanical breakdown on the way to the hang that depleted my fun money. In true HF fashion, the gang chipped in and "funded" my stay, much appreciated.
TZBrown won the "best dressed" award. Although bloomgorge looked sexy in wool too.
Met some new friends and caught up with some old ones.
I didnt take any pics, but I'm sure it happened.
We had a couple reporters stop by and we may be famous in the local paper soon...

We are truly blessed with this forum!

    Great times

Have to agree, the weekend was a lot of fun. I have added some pics on my page:

Thanks to everyone for helping make this happen; Paul and Kevin for dinners, Bloomgorge for the pizza, TZBrown for the coffee urns, Boudah and Stone for the firewood, and everyone for the raffle items. Looking forward to the next trip already. peace.

I have to agree, I had a great time, and the food, the raffle, and the company were all top shelf. It was great to meet many of you for the first time and good to see the guys I already know again. Thanks to everyone, we had another successful hang.

Had a great time this weekend. It's really great to get out and meet a lot of new people, catch up with others I haven't seen in awhile.
One of the best memories of the weekend was eating pizza at night while snow flurries with huge flakes coming down around us.
Looking forward to the next time we can get together.
