Sorry Cakes but I'm sad to say I'm not going to be able to make this one. Unfortunately it's going to coincide with my annual week long fishing trip to Steinhatchee, Fla. That's the only reason I couldn't commit to begin with. Apparently this is the only week the members of my party could all schedule time off. My son and I may have to try this one solo as a destination this summer. Hope yawl have a great time and take lots of pics.

I think we're hitting this at the right time too for Mother Nature's spring wildflower display!

Too bad I was hoping to see that new tarp. But fishing in Florida is fun too! You'll get to join a hang soon enough...check out the Linville Gorge Rat Gathering at linvillegorge.net for May!

Almost forgot...A whole lot of Gorge Rats and HF members will be at Trail Days in Damascus Va. a few days before the Gorge Rat Gathering. It's a real hoot! Check out the vendor list...you'll be surprised. and I hear a rumor that Wilderness Logics will be there too.

No matter what Mother Nature brings, I'm sure to enjoy it.
Test load-out & paddle in local waters this weekend...
I'm most likely traveling the furthest of the group. I plan to drive up Wednesday evening into Thursday. Rest Thursday, overnighting somewhere close to the launch.
Ready to go bright & early Friday.

If you're wanting to camp I think quite a few others will be at Cheoa Point camp ground on Thursday night. I just may make an appearance then too if I get ready in time.

Looking at the CHEOAH POINT "Campground" Reserve America website, there are a number of walk-up only sites available. Unless anyone else has already made a reservation, I'll grab a spot. Anyone else wanting to share the campsite overnight Thursday is more than welcome. Site states up to 10 people.
I'm driving a white Ford F150, kayak on top.
Then paddling and hanging elsewhere on the Lake Friday & Saturday evening.

I called the FS and they said it's fee free & first come first serve, no reservations. And they also told me there are showers there where the info on the web said there were none. I don't think we will exceed the limit and besides I only need 1 tree as I can hang from my boat rack on the vehicle!
