    5 minute "No Sew" hammock

    well,

i have such limited sewing, sorry i mean erm... thread injection skills. In fact i don't own a sewing....er.. thread injector machine.

So when my ACU 1.1 showed up i couldn't just let it sit there in my basement.
I had to do something with it. IMMEDIATELY.

So i decided on a "No Sew" down and dirty, get er' done, cut-n-tie, 5 minute hammock.

This is my first foray into this.
I took the gathered end technique off of just jeff's site, and i used some strange knot on the end that i saw somewhere.
Also used 2 10' whoopies from Hammock gear.

Total weight 228 Grams (does not include straps or biners)
It is the full 68" wide and exactly 102" long knot to knot.
It is very comfortable, it has a little extra fabric running down the edges.
And i managed to get a pretty flat lay in it.
The edges from the factory are not sewn, but there is no fraying.

So for all those non thread injectors out there. Get some fabric and have at it!

Can you show how you did the knot on the ends?

Great Job, Matt B. that's what a basement is supposed to look like! Oh yeah, the hammock looks good too! Love that acu. Did you do a sheet bend with your whoopies? Let us know how you like it.

Great job mbnow! It looks like you made a sheet bend with the fixed eye on your whoopies. Good work.

Very Nice. Many years ago after reading Ed Speers book I was into buying 4 yds of anything interesting on the Walmart Dollar shelf and doing the same thing. No whoopies then so it was 3/8 dacron I had around. Did a double layer this summer with 8 yds from Joannes on sale. Easy way to check concepts. Quick and dirty if you find a friend to want to try out hammock. Can even add a Structural Ridge Line and play with it. ;-)

You just proved that there's no excuse for not making your own hammock.

No true hammocker will be denied. Great job!
Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.
