    Arrow Zing it suspension?

If i put over hand knots into a doubled over piece of zing it so i had two straps that work like python straps, attaching them to trees via toggle/ tree huggers of course, do you think they would support a 250 lb man, or would the knots slip? would they stretch?

    No, don't do it.

You intend already to diminish breaking strength from 650 lb to half that with the much-discouraged knot. Recommended safety factor for human support is at least 11 to 1.

You expect not to be close by plan and execution, not just by accident or circumstance.

Check the weight and volume savings over 7/64" Amsteel Blue. A mouthful of water, maybe?

conventional wisdom says to use suspension rated to atleast 1000# or more. by tying knots in the line you have to derate the line being used, % based upon the specific knot tied. zing-it if it's 2.2mm is rated at 580lbs avg strength. it's your call but please have the video camera rolling if try using the zing-it. you would be better off using all webbing (poly / polypro), dynaglide or amsteel-blue.

The responses above are right. Zing-It isn't rated high enough for suspension use, even before the knots. Failure would only be a matter of time.

I agree with the above posters, but even if it was amsteel, I'd try to dissuade you. Overhand knots tend to roll under the right tension.

Some ropes are intended to be used with knots, some are intended to be used with splicing. Amsteel and Zing-it/Lash-it are intended to be spliced more so than used with knots.

As the others have said,Zing it is not a suspension capable line. Other much better choices are very readily available.

I personally think it would work for a while. In 2008 I made my hammock and used cord rated to about 400 pounds and used knots (at the time I thought it was rated higher) I went about 780 miles before one cord broke. I was very gentle on my gear. I think you would have better success if you splice everything and go as easy as possible.

That said, the weight savings is negligible over 1.8 dynaglide. I would stick to that.

There are a few things you should never go cheap on and suspension is by far top of the list. Your dealing with not only your weight but pulling forces here. Save you butt, and save the zing-it for tie outs.
