    That's the main problem that comes with length. Commercial tarps and bugnets may not work, but of course DIY does.

    At 5'-8" I find 10.5'-11' lengths work great and that longer = flatter. While I like a wide hammock, I find that width beyond about 54" adds taller sides to keep quilts in but does not really contribute to additional flatness.

    Just When You Thought the Issue Was Settled...

    I'm 6-0/250, and have been sleeping all winter in a Speer, which is ~9 feet. I don't know why it works, but it does.

    It took awhile, but I found winter bliss...Speer/Snugfit/HG tq/PapaSmurf sock.

    Thanks everyone! This thread was a major help for me. I'm 5'11(+) and 175#. I'm moving on from my starter hammock & have spent hours trying to figure out how to not waste my family's $$.
