Oh, they arn't a problem anymore, I found a army surplus flame thrower on E-Bay last month, it is now part of my winter gear, at a mere 85 Lbs, I feel it is worth carrying for the protection provided.
When you have a backpack on, no matter where you are, you’re home.
PAIN is INEVITABLE. MISERY is OPTIONAL.

85lbs is a small price to pay. But be careful those little snowmen are a wirey bunch!
Is that too much to ask? Girls with frikkin' lasers on their heads?
The hanger formly known as "hammock engineer".

Four seasons for me. Lowest temp was 11*, highest so far is about 80*. The low was with a rectangular 20* bag as a peapod with a 35* quilt inside. I've now made a down underquilt and will be making another top quilt. May also try a pad in extreme cold. Thinking about a sock, too. So much to sew...

The good news is my kids both hang (son was with me for the 11* night!) and the wife is giving it a try. Hopefully we'll all do some cold weather hangin' in the winter.

I wish spring, summer, and fall was an option for the poll. I have done late fall overnight camping in a hammock (5* to 10* F) but would choose a different, and more communal shelter system for winter.
