    measuring warbonnet blackbird hammock length

I have a question. How do you measure hammock length? I notice on the blackbird the netting stops you from being able to truly lay the hammock body out flat. The blackbird is suppose to measure 120 inches long, but the netting stops you from being able to measure the full length of hammock. Understand what I mean? My blackbird measures 106 inches long, because the bug netting doesn't allow you to lay the body of the hammock flat. The bug netting does not allow you to stretch out the hammock fully. Understand?

Much hammock length is measured at the start point of the material. So the 120 would be before the sewing and ends are done. The ridgeline length will give you a better idea of the hanging length. At least that is how I have understood it and how measure my DIY.

Yep, absolutely clear. In addition to the netting, there is a fixed ridgeline. I don't think you can measure it, but it will give you something to ponder in those moments before you fall asleep.

Because the Blackbird is so engineered, I don't think that the two sides are of equal length.
If you want a measurement, use a cloth tape like tailors use and follow the edge with it while it's set up. But measure both edges and let us know if my theory is correct

the hammock body is 120 before the end channels are sewn, so in use the hammock body is 117" or so depending on where you measure from

Fold it in half, with the bug net on the inside of the fold. Then you can get the hammock material to be taut, and just double the measurement you make.
