What are dog socks? Are they the same as dog boots or are they different?

Dog sleeps on a small CCF pad. I tie my pack cover top around him like a cape, and tuck it under him to block breezes. He's also under the tarp, and leashed to something at all times while I'm asleep.

It took a couple tries for him to realize the pack cover kept him warm.

I took this during one of my 2am bathroom breaks.
She would only stay there because I was a few feet away and there was no way she was staying in there for long.
