    Locked Brummel on both ends

    Hey all,

I've done a locked brummel on one end of some amsteel, but how would you go about making one on BOTH ends? Seems like the normal process wouldn't work.

Is this possible? Any links to another thread with details would be spectacular.

These two links will show you how to make a locked brummel using one end. Of the two, I prefer the McDonald method.

This one will show a brummel knot using both ends.

There is a fancy way someone showed me once but I just widen the split threads a little larger and drag the other side through. Itll go.. Ive done it with zingit and dynaglide so far.

I've done this with amsteel. It will go through with a little effort. I do the MacDonald splice as well but sometimes I find powering through just as easy.

Amsteel blue will easily open up enough to pass a fixed eye or the adjustable loop of a whoopie sling through to make a locked brummel.

+1 on this. Zing it will open up easily enough too, to just pass the first fixed eye thru it. I always fid open my pass thru holes in both amsteel and zing-it, it closes right back up again with no problems.

1/8 the amsteel will work too,,just open wide enough and slide the whole thingy thru,,,used it to make some 4' extensions to add to my tree slings for larger trees with locked brummels on both ends,,no weight to carry and great for backup on the larger trees with 6' tree slings.

I've just forced it through. Worked on my tech line...with some coaxing. Splicing that stuff was fun enough.
