    Time to bump this.

Our ranger was gone for a month so we haven't made any progress. We're meeting tomorrow morning, though. I'll be reviewing the campsites and hopefully giving him a demo to show the low-impact nature.

It is probably more important to contact the gentleman in the letter before you go. That way he will contact the park and you won't have to try to convince a busy park ranger that you aren't trying to pull a fast one.

Oh the things I do for the cause. I started feeling lightheaded I'd been drained of so much blood. OMG the skeeters were insane!!

We had a great meeting today, though. We walked the entire camping area at Little Talbot Island State Park and did surveys on 40 sites. We ended up with 16 that had suitable trees for hanging. Some of the sites could accommodate up to 4 hammocks while others could only fit one. I was really disappointed with some of the sites. They had gorgeous views of the marsh but no trees. We took good notes so hopefully the site descriptions at reserveamerica.com can be updated. I'm going to make other suggestions like min 12' straps due to the size and distance of some of the trees.

My park counterpart was planning on updating the GIS today marking the hammock-friendly sites. We also ran into a couple that was very excited about what we were doing. Apparently one of the rangers manning the gate has been turning hammockers away not knowing about the pilot program. Hopefully that won't be an issue moving forward.

Aside from the swarms of skeeters I think it was a great day. Once we were done we went to one of the sites and I showed him how the straps are used and how there was no trace I'd been there once the hammock was down. He even got in the Light Hiker for a little bit and thought it was comfortable.

I made sure he knew that if he or any of the park staff had questions in the future or wanted more live demos to see exactly what we're wanting to do I'd be happy to make another trip.

Thanks for your sacrifice Jaxs. Should I go make a donation for your transfusion?
