Thanks that is basically what I had in mind. Pips has hers permanently installed where I was thinking something framed in with rope or webbing that would stick more with the portability theme. Depending on how wide your spread on your stands are you could even install 2 shelves per tripod.

Here is what I came up with.....

Just a few mods I made. I ended up using my Atlas straps for hanging the hammock from the stand. It works amazing so far. Plus if you're going to hang from a tree too, you may as well get the straps and get double use out of them!

I did order 2 WoopieSling continuous loops for hanging the pole from the stand. They should be in soon. Currently I'm using some rope I had in the garage that can hold up to 190lbs according to the package. Also will swap out the rope for paracord for around the bottom to keep the legs from slipping out from under me!

So far Im very happy with it. Now onto thinking of how to make one thats a bit more portable that could fit in the car. 6' tall for the stand is a bit tall for my Maxima.

Has anyone thought of making one of the towers a chair?

You can see the videos based on the same design:
    http://youtu.be/KH6yqDFGRqI

But if you use the chair from ggreenvideo by Paul Gibson at AHE..
    http://youtu.be/xJrUhVptYVc

    http://arrowheadequipment.webs.com/a...ts/show/928496

Connect the top to the hinge line and add a small bar through the bottom???

I'm going to get the supplies today to build mine, but that was definitely a thought I have in making more use of the towers, shelves are always good, but a chair on one side and shelves on the other would be perfect.

    Just a thought.

My stand's legs don't splay enough to make a chair, but you certainly could do that.

Heck, make both ends into chairs. The whole fam damily can have a rest!
