Also, this is my first post! Hello all! My girlfriend and I (total 300lbs together) have slept in this together for a week straight and it has completely sold her on hammocks, so thanks for that! I had a weak leg I had to replace, but since then it is super sturdy and doesn't bend or creak or anything. Easy to move and sturdier than you would think. Build one! You could be #59! Do it!

At first, I thought you had to replace you own leg!
Glad it was just the stand

Pictures please. Some of us are mentally impaired and require visuals.

Welcome aboard the Forum and to the TurtleDog Fraternity. Might as well go ahead and start another one, your girlfriend is going to want her own eventually.

I work out of town a lot, which means hotels. I would love to be able to bring my hammock along so I didn't have to sleep in their crappy beds!

If I were to make one of these stands for my 11' brazilian hammock, what dimensions should the legs and cross bar be? Will that even work with that large a hammock?

How much space do you need to hang it as it is? I have an 11'+ gathered end hanging from my 10.5' ridgepole on my stand, with considerable sag and my suspension running through end shackles so the ends of the hammock are right at the ends of the ridge pole.

One of the tricks is working out the attachment points. My stand is a little over 13' long and I expect it's one of the smaller ones as I don't have my uprights spread very much. Will that fit in most places you stay?

That's what I'm worried about. There's no way of knowing which hotel my company will put me in, so It's a crap shoot how much space I'll actually end up having. 13' is a lot to swing though. I may need to use my eno instead.

Ridge pole only needs to be slightly longer than your ridge line if you use one. That will dictate how long the total stand has to be. Also, if you can stand getting real low to the floor, the shorter you make the stand, the shorter in length the whole shebang has to be.

Have you looked at the Turtlelady stand thread?

Either way you do it, the shorter the hammock, the shorter the stand in height, the smaller overall the stand has to be.

Thanks hppyfngy! I'll have to do more research before I build anything. It's hard when I don't even have the hammock with me to get measurements.
