Well I finally got my act together and bought materials for a Turtledog stand and made it today. Cost £35 ($58 approx.). Used 1.8m 50mmx50mm (5' 10" 2"square) posts. Diagrams in earlier threads were most helpful with angles etc. In the absence of fence post tubing here in the UK I used three sections of ex-army aluminium heavy duty tent poles which work well if the suspension and hang points are close together (not to bendy).
So can I reserve #124 until it stops raining here and allows me to set it up and I can photograph it? Unless photo's of it packed count!

This is the key to light weight or long ridgepoles.

You can add me to the list of stands built, I hope to do mine this week after much putting it off. Thanks for all the good info and pictures.

Add me to the list! I bought the stuff and built it after dinner. I have my BIAS WWM hanging in the basement. I wasn't able to get the eyebolts installed, but I was able to prussik a couple Amsteel continuous loops to hold it up there. I'm using a 3-piece 13-foot bar. With my long 11-foot hammock I am only about 5-6 inches off the floor, but I'm hanging. Photos coming in a couple days.

I built one for the Fall 2012 MAHHA. Will donate it to the Mt. Rogers raffle in a couple of weeks.

That's nice of you David. Don't care for it or just don't need it?
Some say I'm apathetic, but I don't care. - Randy

Just don't need it. Lots of trees around here. I gravitate toward groves (forest-dweller). I hesitated about giving it up, though. It's nice to have for group hangs where I might want to show off a new design close to a campfire or gathering spot out in the open. I'll build another one if that need becomes more frequent.
