I think the little blue guy with white beard/red beanie gives an excellent example that cottage quality & simple customer information can co-exist. I'm sure that under the line it's a gain of time not to have to answer calls/mails just about order status updates. Even if you order a Bentley you'd like to know if it's for you or your inheritants.
