    Hammock Hang, Thoughts/ Newbie still

Added photos.. Or did not happen.. :-)

Was bored today.. Thus, have not really hung my Hammock up to do a complete set up and crawl in for a Nappy / Cold brew. Some odd things Learned/surprised. hmm.. So I went with back to set up low Near ground again.. Crawl in, out Re-adjust till feel some what level. ( best results) Lots of in & out In & out. till I achieved, both ends at Equal height seems to work the best. So far...work in progress...

Blue Ridge line ratchet straps.. not Hammock related ( was my hang rack for spraying Permethrin on gear).

My ENO single Pro-nest (96" Long) with Whoopies, using straps & biners.

Tried the APP's for grins on getting idea on height distance etc. Loved that IPOD apps, on Hammocks.

Tree Spacing was 17 feet. ( had to try it)
used the IPOD specs. Say's 82"
    With Sit height of 24"s.

suspension from anchor to hammock 77" (Head) other side 60" ( Feet )

The 77" side gave me angle of 30 Degree's & sit height 30 inches.( pressing center of hammock down)

the head side at 30 Degrees

    the feet side 40

    Side view of hammock.

After, I re-adjusted. Had both ends equal height.. felt better, for set up. vs the IPOD spec's. BUT.. still learning too...

Maybe? tree's should be rule of thumb closer 12 -13 feet max??. Dunno

    Foot shot.

Do wish had bought a wider one.. this feels slightly cramped. My first Real Hammock, So Learning from Bottom to Tree Dweller status.

I made up a 6' leg Tri-pod, For Tree less Camping, As using one anchor point of the Xterra.. and hooked to tri-pod 12 feet away. ( Need to anchor Tri-pod to ground for taking weight. Almost did a boo boo. Almost!!.) Still playing with it.

whew.. Hope all that makes sense to your experts. I am still learning this New Hang system.. From 30 years ago Rope hammock.. To This Modern day hammock.. lots changed.

Thoughts????, Or just keep Tweaking, till I find the sweet spot.

The hammock will open up some if you turn diagonally to the centerline. Try putting your head and shoulders to the left of center and your legs and feet to the right of center (or the other way 'round, if you prefer). It should allow you to feel less cramped and more comfortable.

My rule of thumb for my hammock (which is longer than the ENO brand ones) is to find a pair of trees just wider apart than my tarp is long (12'). Which usually winds up being in the 13' to 14' range. I find that this allows me enough sag without having to hang my hammock straps annoyingly high.

Let me know if you have any specific questions. Hope it helps!
