Hiya from Saint Louis! Looking for a backpacking group!

I am totally new to hammock backpacking. Just ordered my warbonnet blackbird and can't wait to test it out! My backpacking tent went missing and so this hammock is the replacement. My hips couldn't handle sleeping on the ground anymore anyway since I'm a side sleeper. :-p I'm super pumped!

I'm very interested in finding a group to go backpacking with in the Saint Louis/Missouri. I love camping in Illinois and Wisconsin as well If anyone has any suggestions for finding a group or navigating this site, I'm all ears!

Hi, Welcome, I work downtown at Ameren. I live over in Troy, IL. There is the meetup.com group for St.Louis adventure group but not many of them are hammock hangers or long distance hikers. Im just getting into hiking and hanging so am too looking into this as well.

Here is a thread of some guys here in STL/MO that im talking with to see what / when we can get out and go. Send a pm to neutron for details. Im free this weekend for most part so im hoping to get out and hang somewhere.

Welcome from House Springs, MO. Check out the Missouri Hang thread going on in the Trip Planning section. Hopefully we can all get together for a STL area hang soon.
With beauty all around you, may you walk.

    Welcome.

You can try your local meet-up groups, we have a bunch, kayak, hiking, photo, fishing..etc. The internet allows folks with similar interests to get together.
Do a search for things in your area, once I started looking the options were almost endless.

And of course the good folks here are fun to hang out with.

    Welcome from Florida.
I'm a side sleeper also which makes the transition even more meaningful.
I have a friend who used to live in St. Louis and I always enjoyed visiting him because I liked the city.
