    DIY Weathershield?

I have some extra fabric headed my way and I was trying to figure out what I could make from it. It is uncoated/untreated ripstop as well as some PU coated ripstop. I was thinking about making a weathershield from it but I wasn't sure what to use. would the best option be to treat the uncoated ripstop to make it water resistant? Does anyone have any suggestions of good treatments to go with? Are there any good instructions on how to make a overshield/undershield combo or a hammock burrito? Any help would be great. Thanks!

I would choose the breathable fabric and treat it with Nixwax or Revivx to add some water resistance to it. The over cover should definitely be breathable.

If you want both an overcover and weathershield, you could consider a hammock sock.

Thanks for the confirmation of what to do. I think that I'll make a weathershield and a hammock sock since I have the material and its nice to have options. Thanks for the tip on different treatments to go with as well. Now it's time to get started

I'm still figuring out what I want to do, but I'm thinking that for the hammock sock I am going to make a tube with one end tapered to a point and the other have a shock cord closure to open & close the head end. For the weathershield I was thinking basically making a gathered end to hang with shock cord under the hammock. That's the best way I can think of doing it but if there's a better way, any help is appreciated
