Pinhoti Section 7 - Trail Report

    Friends,
I just made it back from a 3 day on the Pinhoti Trail, Section (or Sector) 7. This is the first trip I took along my trusty GPS Hiking app from Trimble Outdoors and was able to document while I went.

Good places to hang, and a real challenge hiking up hill from North to South.

Here is a link to the Trip Report: http://www.trimbleoutdoors.com/ViewTrip/1686715 - Check it out and let me know what you think of the application reports.

This is a nice trail, but some parts are not maintained well. There are some good views, and fun water spots on the North side of the trail. Once you hit the South half of the section it is ALL CLIMBING, and limited water (North to South).

Poison Ivy is all over, and grows into the trail. Wear pants if you are in ivy season, and want to try to avoid it.

Bottom Line - I would do it again, but would go North to get the good views, and then end up with pleanty of water and nice camp sites.

Wow I like it. Good for keeping a detailed report of your hikes. Grate tool for logging water on the trail. Add the weather conditions as well.
Tortoise never for a moment stopped, but went on with a slow but steady pace straight to the end of the course.

Do you have the Trimble Allsport GPS or the Trimble Outdoors navigator?

Thanks for sharing. I completed this a couple of weeks back myself. We started at the Cheaha TH, then stopped at US431. Started at 4:30p one evening at Cheaha TH, hiked to the Hillaby Creek site arriving 9p. Poison ivey was abundant indeed. Hiked the rest of the way and hit 431 by 11a the next morning.

I would do it again, but the Cohutta wilderness still is my favorite.

I did like using the Trimble Outdoors GPS application. Really made documenting the trip easy, and complete.

The Pinhoti passes right through the Cohuttas.
